Aided by esteemed lobbyist Shawn Miller of Miller Public Affairs, the GAC allocates time and resources, sets legislative priorities, devises strategies and fights for IEC\u2019s position on public policy.<\/p>\n<h2>4<\/h2>\n<p>IEC of Oregon members are invited to support the IEC Political Action Committee Fund.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Important Achievements at the State Level&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1576104456540-8ce52e61-a239&#8243;]<h2 class=\"bright-section-title bright-section-title-default text-center margin-top-medium margin-bottom-small title-font-size-default\">IEC of Oregon Important Achievements at the State Level<\/h2>[vc_single_image image=&#8221;5946&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1550445531136{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 50px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 50px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1598030764441{padding-right: 50px !important;padding-bottom: 50px !important;padding-left: 50px !important;}&#8221;]<strong>OR\/WA Reciprocal For General Journey Level Electricians<\/strong> \u2014 IEC of Oregon collaborated to get license reciprocity between Oregon and Washington passed.\u00a0 Please see details under State Legislative Updates or the Member-Only page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Limited Electrical Energy Licenses Reduction<\/strong> \u2014 IEC worked with the Building Codes Division and passed legislation to decrease the number of Limited Energy Electrician licenses from 11 to 2. \u00a0The bill eliminated confusion by licensees and regulators as to requirements, scope of work and continuing education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stopped Expansion of Prevailing Wage on Private Projects<\/strong> \u2014 IEC has been victorious in nearly every legislative session by killing the union\u2019s attempt to expand prevailing wage to private projects within enterprise zones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prompt Payment<\/strong> \u2014 IEC passed legislation providing for payment timelines for owners, contractors and subcontractors on commercial construction projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apprenticeship Ratio<\/strong> \u2014 IEC pushed legislation in 2005 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitolonramp.com\/cor\/users\/editbill.asp?EB=HB+23740\">(HB 2374)<\/a> requiring the State Apprenticeship and Training Council to adopt rules establishing a minimum 1 to 1 numeric ratio of journeymen to apprentices for each apprenticeable occupation. \u00a0Although the bill did not pass,\u00a0it forced BOLI Commissioner Dan Gardner to increase the number of apprentices on projects and to this day \u2014 IEC continues to push for a 1-1 ratio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>E-Permitting<\/strong> \u2014 IEC worked to pave the way for statewide one-stop E-permitting, promoting consistency, predictability, timeliness and efficiency \u2014 as the construction industry\u2019s most important regulatory streamlining initiative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Predictable Scheduling<\/strong> \u2014 Oregon became the first state to pass legislation on work\u00a0scheduling requirements. Mail everything to us at the address shown in the top left corner of the good standing form.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h5>The 2021 Oregon Legislative Sessions<\/h5>\n<p>The 2021 Oregon legislative session began on January 21, 2021 and will end on June 28, 2021.\u00a0 There are currently 4,000 bills in front of this session.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2020 elections, the Oregon State Senate remains a Democratic supermajority of 18 to 12.
